SKM Connector

Last updated: 16 October 2026

SKM builds and interrogates financial models: a model is a graph of accounts, parameters and formulas, not a grid of cells, so a question like "what happens to enterprise value if we cut prices 10%?" is answered by the model rather than by rewriting it. The SKM connector puts that model in front of an AI assistant. Connected to Claude, you can build a model from scratch, read any figure out of one you already own, change an assumption and see what it does, or open a what-if branch — in conversation, with the results written back to your SKM account at app.skema.tech.

Everything the connector does happens inside models you own or have been given access to. It cannot see anyone else's.

Before you start

You need an SKM account. Sign up free at app.skema.tech with Google or an email and password — the same account the connector signs you into. No API key, licence or paid plan is required to connect.

If you have never built a model, you can let the connector build your first one (see the example prompts below), or build one in the app and come back.

Connect from Claude

  1. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
  2. Enter the server URL: https://mcp.skema.tech/mcp
  3. Click Connect. Claude sends you to SKM to sign in.
  4. Sign in with your SKM account and approve the connection.

Claude registers itself and obtains its own access token through OAuth 2.1 with PKCE; SKM never sees your Claude account, and Claude never sees your SKM password. The connection stays signed in until you remove it in Claude's settings or ask us to revoke it.

Any MCP client that speaks Streamable HTTP and OAuth connects the same way, with the same URL.

Example prompts

Try these once the connector is enabled.

Build a model from scratch

Build me a DCF model for Ferrari using SKM.

The connector walks through the choices the app's Create Model dialog asks for — which company, which template, which documents to read — one question at a time, then builds in the background. Ask "how is the build going?" to follow it.

Read a model you already have

List my SKM models, then show me revenue and operating income by year for the Ferrari one.

Test an assumption

In my Ferrari model, what happens to enterprise value if the volume growth rate drops to 2%? Put it on a what-if branch so the base case is untouched.

Work backwards from an answer

What terminal growth rate would my Ferrari model need to reach €60bn enterprise value? Don't change anything yet — just solve for it.

Check the model holds together

Run SKM's quality checks on my Ferrari model and explain anything that fails.

What the connector can do

Twenty-nine tools, split by whether they change anything. Claude picks among them; you never call one by name.

Read-only

Tool What it does
list_models List the models you can open
query_model Read account values over time, by scenario and dimension
get_parameters Read a model's parameters and their values
get_driver_score How much of the model is driven by formulas rather than typed-in numbers
list_branches List a model's what-if branches
run_solver Goal-seek: find the parameter values that hit a target. Proposes, changes nothing
run_sensitivity Measure how an account responds to each parameter, in memory
get_undo_head The change that undo_change would reverse
get_model_build_status Progress of a build started by create_model
get_build_report The report a model's build left: each step, its sources, and the QC result
list_model_files, read_model_file The files stored with a model (Excel export, Model Brief and QC Report PDFs, sources) and their contents
list_cloud_files Browse your Google Drive for documents to build from, once you connect Drive in the app

Changes a model

Tool What it does
create_model Build a new model from a template, a company and your documents
create_account, create_parameter, add_dimension_value Add structure to a model
manage_parameter_groups Organise parameters into folders
update_parameter, update_account_value Change an assumption or a figure
assign_formula, driverize_account Replace typed-in values with a formula and its drivers
apply_template Apply a model template to an existing model
estimate_values Research and fill values with AI and web search
recalculate_model, recalculate_branch Recalculate after changes
validate_model_qc Run the quality checks and stamp the result
create_branch, unlink_branch Open a what-if branch, or promote one to a standalone model
undo_change Reverse the most recent change
delete_branch, delete_model Delete a branch, or a model and everything in it

Deletions are permanent. A model, with every branch under it, can only be deleted by its owner or an account administrator. A branch belongs to whoever opened it, so it is that person, anyone they have given edit rights on the branch itself, or an administrator who can delete it — edit rights on the parent model alone are not enough.

Each tool tells the assistant whether it can overwrite or remove data that is already there, as against only adding to a model, and Claude asks before running the ones that can.

Limits

Fair-use limits keep an assistant's tool loop from running away with your account:

When a limit stops a call, the connector says which limit and when it resets.

Troubleshooting

What you see What to do
Claude asks you to sign in again The connection was revoked or expired. Remove the connector in Claude's settings and add it again
"No model with that name" Run "list my SKM models" — the connector matches on the exact names your account can see
A tool says you lack access You have view rights, not edit. The model's owner can share it with edit rights from the app
Values look stale after a change Ask Claude to recalculate the model; formula results update on recalculation, not on every edit
A build never finishes Ask for the build status. Builds that read large documents can take several minutes; errors are reported there
A call is refused for rate or budget Wait for the reset the message names, or continue in the app

Privacy and support

The connector is covered by the SKM Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. In short: SKM sends your assistant only what the tools it calls return, and only for models you can access; what the assistant then does with that is governed by its own provider's terms. You can disconnect at any time in the assistant's settings.
